Spider-Man 4 A Reboot

Thank God! That’s all I can say. It has been revealed that the next Spider Man film will be a reboot with Sam Raimi and the Cast gone. While I would’ve preferred that Raimi to stay I believe that this is the best move for the franchise since the last film was so terrible.

I definitely didn’t see this coming but it’s still a welcome change. Deadline has this to outline the next film.

Culver City, CA (January 11, 2010) — Peter Parker is going back to high school when the next Spider-Man hits theaters in the summer of 2012. Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios announced today they are moving forward with a film based on a script by James Vanderbilt that focuses on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises.

The new chapter in the Spider-Man franchise produced by Columbia, Marvel Studios and Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will have a new cast and filmmaking team. Spider-Man 4 was to have been released in 2011, but had not yet gone into production.

Spider Man 3 was hammered by everyone and I thought it had a chance to be better than what it was, but having two villains congest the screen was a terrible idea there was simply too much going on. Though it’s a bit to early for a reboot I hope they scale back the film a bit and focus on story. The first two movies weren’t terrible the last film was terrible but did that really warrant a reboot? Maybe Sony hopes that this reboot will do what Batman Begins did for the Batman franchise, but on the contrary those Batman movies were terrible after Tim Burton left, a reboot was necessary.

It worked for Batman, James Bond, and Star Trek why not Spider-Man?

Also the casting of John Malkovich as the Vulture should remain because that’s a dream casting there in itself. Malkovich makes the perfect Vulture and villain.
